Christmas Card Design and Writing Competition 2026

Christmas Card Design & Writing Christmas Competition 2026

I'm pleased to launch my 2026 Christmas Card Design and Writing Competition, inviting young people from across Nuneaton and the Villages to showcase their creativity and help design my official Christmas card for this year.

This year, there are two competitions running. One for Nursery and Primary School aged pupils and one for Secondary School students:

🎨 Christmas Card Design Competition (Nursery and Primary School Pupils)

Primary school-aged children are invited to design the front of my official Christmas card based on the theme:

"Christmas in Nuneaton"

Whether it is festive lights in the town centre, celebrations with family and friends, a favourite local landmark, or what Christmas means to them, I'm looking forward to seeing the wonderful and imaginative designs our young people create.

There will be three winners, whose designs will feature on the front of my official Christmas card.

  • Early Years (0-4 years)

  • Infant (4-7 years)

  • Junior (7-11 years)

✍️ Christmas Card Writing Competition (Secondary School Students)

Secondary school students are invited to submit an original piece of festive writing based on the theme "Christmas in Nuneaton" inspired by the George Eliot quotation, β€œWhat do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult for each other?”, students are invited to write a poem or short piece of prose. There will be one overall winner in the secondary school category, and the winning entry will be featured on the inside left-hand page of the Christmas card.

Entries should be no more than 75 words in length and can be:

  • A short poem, or

  • A short piece of prose

Where Will the Winning Entries Be Seen?

The winning artwork and writing will be included on my official Christmas cards, which will be sent to:

  • The Prime Minister

  • The Speaker of the House of Commons

  • Community groups and local organisations

  • Schools and local partners

This is a unique opportunity for local young people to have their work shared with people both locally and nationally.

For the Christmas Writing Competition (Secondary School Students), students should submit their poem or prose piece electronically or by post.
