Statement

My thoughts are first and foremost with the 12-year-old girl who has suffered an unimaginably horrific crime. No verdict can undo the harm done to her, but I hope that justice can be the start of her healing.

Also want to acknowledge the swift response of the local police and justice services. I thank them for their work in securing this conviction and for the compassion and support for the victim throughout such a traumatic process.
